A soft, amused laugh echoed from her lips as Avery made her request. She had to ask in the most round about way. Crystal glanced over as she noticed a cop car roll past. “Walk with me.” She smirked a bit and started stepping down the street. “I’ve got what you need, and I’ll cut you a deal.” The car pulled up to them and the window rolled down. “Hello Ladies.” Crystal smiled politely and looked the cop over. “Hello Officer.” She winked a bit and he let out a soft chuckle. “What are you girls up to tonight, hm?” Crystal motioned her hand over to Avery. “Just walking my girl here home from work, you never know what kind of whack-jobs are on the streets.” He nodded his head and looked Avery up and down. “Well you two be safe now.” He rolled his window back up and drove off
Crystal hooked her arm around Avery’s and started walking down the street. “Okay, so you looking for some bud. From the looks of you, you don’t smoke a heck of a lot. ” She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a long cone shaped joint and held it up. “This is mine. I wanted to get baked before I headed over toward the bridge. I’m gonna jump. It should be great.” She paused for a second. “I mean bungee jump. I’m no loon or anything.” She put the spliff to her lips and lit it up, taking a long drag from it before holding it out to Avery and wiggling it a bit. “I don’t like smoking alone. So smoke with me and I’ll give you an eighth no charge.” She let her lips curl up again. Always one to try and win the affections of a pretty girl.
If Avery hadn’t felt awkward to begin with, she certainly did now. Crystal’s slightly amused laugh made her feel like a sixth grader who got tripped in front of everyone in the hallway. She felt out of place, out of her element. Her eyes locked onto the police car as it rolled closer and closer towards them. ‘Great way to seal the deal. Get busted with dealer who could potentially knife you and take your money. Cool.’ The simple idea of falling into a role, pretending to be or something, was so familiar to her though. Avery linked her arm with the other girl, laughing as though someone had just said a joke. “Hello, officer.”, she giggled as she noticed Crystal winking at them. It felt wrong, seeing how as she had grown up around police officers, but so many other things in her life felt wrong - why should this be any different?
It would’ve been a lie to say she was slightly relieved when the cops drove off, presumably on their way to the next crime. “I really don’t. In fact, this will be my second time ever smoking it.”, she replied, her eyes glancing over the joint in Crystal’s hand. Her eyes darted up to the other girls face when she said jump. ‘Great, so not only is she a drug dealer, but she’s suicidal too. You’ve just got the best of luck.’ Again, she breathed a sigh of relief when Crystal clarified a bit more on what she meant. “I’ve always wanted to bungee jump. Never have, though.” Avery replied, as she took the joint from Crystal and held it up to her lips, taking a drag. “It’s as good of a time to learn how as any, right?”
